No bigg deal

Two weeks into Bigg Boss 3 and the ratings are already dipping. What’s missing??
No bigg deal
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan in his new avatar and a bunch of housemates with a streak of madness far more amusing than their counterparts in the past seasons thats Bigg Boss 3 for you.
Despite all the hype surrounding the latest season of Bigg Boss, aMap data shows that the shows launch episode generated an average TRP of just 3. The data also states that the rating of the present season is 77 per cent higher than the shows second season.
Moreover, Bigg Boss 3 was watched by nearly 11 million viewers, almost double the viewership of Bigg Boss 2. But whats interesting is that the first 11 episodes of season two had an average rating of 1.3, whereas this season has only seen a dip since the first episode. The present rating is just around 1.9.
And it seems like the shows producers havent wasted any time in heightening the drama to up the TRPs. The housemates have already started attracting attention with their eccentric behaviour: game manipulation, shedding tears, bickering over food and engaging in petty brawls started on the second day itself. I guess these housemates have bigger egos and quicker tempers. Im waiting for the real drama to unfold, says actress Kirron Kher, who follows the show.
Season two participants think the current season of Bigg Boss is a major put-off. Says Alina Wadiwala, That touch of class in the celeb line-up that could hold the audiences attention is lacking. You can only watch Shamita Shetty or Amitabh. Singer Debojit Saha adds, Any channel would want their content to be masaledar. So, this time the focus is on Sherlyn Chopra and on the couple, Tanaaz and Bakhtiyaar.
Many viewers are of the opinion that the show is staged. In a poll conducted by BT, most viewers said they are disappointed with the present season. Big B, the star attraction of the season, is such a let-down. He comes only on Fridays, the day of elimination, and only promotes himself. Moreover, I dont know any participants except Raju Shrivastav, says MBA student Rohith Balaji.
Housewife Leena L feels that the charm of the game is lost. The idea is to give viewers a sneak peek into the private lives of celebs. But these arent stars youd really want to watch, says Leena.
Why would it work if there is no social message? asks businessman Naresh B. Id rather watch a film, he says.
